Symposium
*** CALL FOR PAPERS IS NOW OPEN - EMAIL THE SECRETARIAT ***Organised by the 蜜桃社区 Speciality Chemicals interest group, with continued valued support from the European Oilfield Speciality Chemicals Association, Chemistry in the Oil Industry is a 2-day technical conference offering high quality keynote speeches, oral and poster presentations plus the opportunity to network with peers and talk with exhibitors offering practical solutions. A welcome reception and Symposium dinner also form part of the event, and new for 2026 - a pre-symposium training course (see more info below).
We have an exciting new venue this time around and the theme for 2026 is "The Role of Chemicals in Shaping the Future of Energy". The symposium will focus on future options for oil and gas field operations, be this EOR, decommissioning, or repurposing assets through geothermal, CCUS, hydrogen storage etc. to enhance the profitability of new fields and to extend the economic life of mature wells. The industry鈥檚 responsibility to do this safely whilst protecting the environment is paramount.
The symposium will comprise a full two-day programme of posters and papers from across the oil and gas industry (upstream, midstream, and downstream) with chemistry taking centre stage.
Key topics will include:
- Drilling & Hydraulic Fracturing
- Flow Assurance
- Geology & Geochemistry
- Decommissioning
- Enhanced Oil Recovery
- Shale Operations
- New & Green Chemistry
- Corrosion Inhibition
- Regulation & Economics
Sponsorship & Exhibitors
An exhibition will run alongside the conference with stands from industry and service providers. There are also various sponsorship opportunitieis for businesses to gain additional visibility throughout the event. The SPONSORSHIP AND EXHIBITOR INFORMATION PACKS can be downloaded from the "Downloads" section of this webpage.Training Course
The organising committee is delighted to announce the inclusion in the programme this year of a must attend training course to be held in conjunction with the main conference.
The training course - "Production Chemistry 鈥 Impact on Water Quality and Productivity" will be delivered by Dr. Wally Georgie - a world renowned expert in oil field operations with over 40 years experience from operator, service company and consultant perspectives.
Dr Georgie has worked with 42 different operating companies, including 12 years with Statoil. He has worked across 70 different platforms and FPSOs, and throughout more than 20 countries. His course will offer a unique insight into oil production operations particularly focussed on offshore and deepwater operations.
This is a full day programme (Mon 20 April, 2026), and attendance is limited, on a first come first served basis.
More details & full course overview coming soon... stay tuned!
