We have decided to repeat this much-loved traditional walk, as nothing quite compares to the breathtaking blue carpet of bluebells in King's Wood.
At the height of the season, the woodland floor is transformed into a sea of vivid blue, stretching as far as the eye can see beneath the tall beech trees. Their fresh spring canopy filters the light beautifully, creating a truly magical atmosphere among the vibrant blooms.
Our walk will begin in the picturesque village of Chilham and will cover approximately 7 -10 km at a leisurely pace, winding through King's Wood. Chilham itself is one of Kent's most charming villages, known for its cobbled square, historic houses, and peaceful rural setting in the heart of the Garden of England. With its medieval church, traditional tea rooms, and welcoming pubs, it provides the perfect starting point — and an equally inviting place to return to after the walk.
The walk is expected to take around -3 hours, finishing back in Chilham where there will be ample opportunity to enjoy lunch or simply relax with refreshments. No special equipment is required; however, the terrain can be soggy in places and there is always a slight chance of rain. Waterproof walking boots or wellies and a raincoat are therefore recommended.
There are 20 places available on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no charge for this event, but please contact Robert Goldmann via email at [email protected] to reserve your place."
