This meeting is the second Toxic Tort meeting organised by the Toxicology Committee. The first meeting of this kind was held in November 2023. That meeting was well-received and feedback from attendees indicated there was appetite for a second one.
These meetings are held in two parts: a morning session of scientific speakers, followed by an afternoon session of lawyers (solicitors and barristers) who practice in the areas of environmental law/chemical law/mass claims, and see these types of cases in their day-to-day work. This year’s topic of discussion is the human health effects of PFAS (per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances) through exposure from drinking water.
These meetings aim to bring together interested parties on the topic of Toxic Tort and discuss the advances and challenges of demonstrating causation in a court of law.
The conference is aimed at practicing lawyers, as well as toxicologists and environmental scientists. It will also be of interest to policy-makers, consultants, and insurers.
The conference will end with networking drinks.
